Ongoing Projects

1. Anti-Discrimination Policy (ADP) education partnership with ADP review committee team.
a. Save the Date for ADP Review Committee Summit, Mon., April 24 (12:30-4 p.m.), Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center
b. How do we increase awareness about the information and changes to the ADP with the larger campus community?

The Anti-Discrimination Policy Input Summit has been rescheduled for April 24, 2023 at the Kellogg Conference Center from 12:00pm-4:30pm. This is a half-day event held in-person and is open to a select group of MSU Faculty, Staff, Academic Staff and Students to gather input, discuss upcoming efforts to revise the Anti-Discrimination Policy and participate in guided discussions around sections of the policy. This is the first in a series of efforts to help educate and activate the campus community around the ADP in efforts to create a new policy that is more reflective of MSU’s values. The Anti-Discrimination Policy will govern our full campus community, and therefore we are hoping for participation from a wide variety of staff, faculty, and students with different perspectives, identities, and roles across campus. The Office for Civil Rights and Title IX Education and Compliance would appreciate any flexibility you can provide in the form of release time for interested staff and students to attend this conversation. If you would like more information about how employee participation in this summit will benefit your unit as a whole, please feel free to reach out to ocr@msu.edu. For questions or to request an invitation please reach out to ocr@msu.edu. To review the current ADP and information about it please visit https://civilrights.msu.edu/policies/index.html.

3. Refocus on a plan for “What’s Next?” after DEI Foundations (DEI Foundations is the mandatory online training for MSU community)
a. Creating an inventory of DEI trainings offered to students, staff, faculty, administration.
b. Can a diversity requirement be mandated?
c. What DEI educational offerings does MSU offer? Can we centralize these in a shared database?

4. Centering histories of activism.
a. Increased education that critically examines the “why” and “how” of diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) and belonging (DEIB).
b. Collecting stories, memories, and experiences from marginalized communities integral in shaping our understanding and embrace of DEI/DEIB in the present.

5. Increased visibility and representation of marginalized communities on MSU’s website and other social media platforms.
