ICI Task Force #2: Inclusive Policies, Procedures and Practices


What We Are Doing:

During our ICI “Inclusive Policies, Procedures and Practices” Task Force bimonthly meetings, the team has turned their attention toward student demands and ongoing student concerns within Michigan State University (MSU) that fall within the category of “Inclusive Policies, Procedures and Practices.” 

The ICI Task Force supports student and community needs by:

1. Increasing communications and collaborations campuswide.
2. Following up on progress of ongoing campuswide projects and initiatives.
3. Identifying and recommending the need for additional resources.
4. Planning and implementing efforts to support student and community needs.
5. Offering guidance, advice and advocacy.

Purpose Statement: We are invested in influencing policies, procedures and practices that impact student wellness, success and sense of belonging.


Ongoing Projects 

1. Streamlining a process of care, support and resources for students during challenging moments.

2. Policies including but not limited to universitywide medical leave, donor accountability and religious observance.

3. Support and follow up for SLE’s emergency SOS Fund for students in need of financial support. 

4. Data Disaggregation
a. How can we make data disaggregation more accessible?
b. How will data disaggregation impact a more complex narrative of student success and student needs. Recommendations and followup.

5. Recruitment and retention of staff and faculty from marginalized identities while supporting the upward mobility of current MSU staff and faculty from marginalized identities.

How do we support current MSU staff of color or who come from marginalized communities from being devalued and overlooked for promotion or not offered leadership opportunities at MSU? Recommendations and followup.
