Jacquez was born and raised on the SOUTHSIDE of Chicago, IL. He attended Western Illinois University, where he studied Law Enforcement & Justice Administration with a concentration on Homeland Security and African American Studies. While in college he was a Resident Assistant, President of the Gospel Choir, Orientation Leader, and involved in many other organizations. That involvement led him to obtain his Master’s Degree in, Leadership in Student Affairs from The University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. After graduation, Jacquez worked as a Community Director at the University of Arizona for 3 years while also researching Racial Battle Fatigue in the workplace, Affinity Spaces, and DEI Training for student staff.
Jacquez began his Spartan journey in fall of 2020 where joined the Residence Education and Housing Services Unit as the Community Director for Holmes Hall. Within those 2 years he served as the DEI advocate for many search committees, and trained RAs on Implicit Bias. He then transitioned from the Community Director role and served as the Strategic Integration Manager for Digital Strategies and Services (DSS) in the Division of Student Life and Engagement. Most recently, Jacquez is the inaugural Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety.
Through his lived experiences, research, and being an active learner, Jacquez is excited to serve as a member of the ICI Leadership Advisory Team. As a member of the team, he plans to center the voices of the most marginalize, demolish systems that are grounded in white supremacy, and continuing to advocate and support folx in the Spartan community.
