Sean Hembrick hails from Harlem, New York City. A Social Justice Warrior, Sean is a first-generation student and a graduate of Binghamton University where he obtained his BA in English and Sociology. Sean has served in various higher education areas including Diversity and Inclusion, Admissions, Residence Life, Leadership, and Academic Advising. He is the former Coordinator for Equity and Inclusive Excellence at Auburn University in Auburn, AL and has served as an Assistant Director for Intercultural Development at Lafayette College in Easton, PA. Sean also holds an M.Ed. in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Texas State University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens College in the City of New York. Sean considers diversity as a “lived experience” and continues to advocate for BIPOC students entering Predominantly White Spaces. Outside of work, Sean is an avid traveler, reader, and enjoys sports, nature, and anything Marvel-related. His responsibilities including working with the OCAT office and advising the Black Students’ Alliance here at MSU.
