This presentation is a philosophical reflection of the Chinese feminist
scholarship generated from the mid-1990s to the present. In the presentation,
Yuanfang Dai explores pathways of the intellectual development of Chinese
feminisms, and critically assesses feminist intellectual inquiries to synthesize,
theorize, and philosophize the themes of Chinese feminist scholarship. She
argues that the intellectual development of Chinese feminist scholarship in the
past three decades is significantly influenced by US-oriented global feminism
and international feminism, but at the same time, Chinese feminist scholarship
evolves through its reflections on the complicated relationship between the
global influences and local Chinese feminisms.
