Mission Statement: 

The Office of Multicultural Enrichment and Advocacy is a student-centered space that facilitates educational opportunities via initiatives for students from historically underrepresented and marginalized backgrounds at Michigan State University to achieve student success. Serving as a nurturing environment that encompasses various essential
elements:

Belonging and Community Building: OMEA strives to create a
welcoming atmosphere where every individual feels a sense of
belonging and is encouraged to actively engage in community-building
activities. This fosters a supportive network where diverse perspectives
are valued and celebrated.

Student Support: OMEA is committed to providing comprehensive
support services to students, ensuring they have the necessary
resources and assistance to thrive academically, emotionally, and
socially. This support may include academic tutoring, counseling
services, career guidance, and more.

Persistence Development: OMEA recognizes the importance of
persistence in achieving academic and personal goals. Through
targeted programs and initiatives, OMEA helps students develop the
resilience and determination needed to overcome challenges and
persevere in their pursuits.

Retention Support and Development: OMEA places a strong emphasis
on student retention, recognizing that retaining students is crucial
for their academic success and overall well-being. By implementing
retention-focused strategies and interventions, OMEA aims to ensure
that students feel supported and motivated to continue their educational
journey.

Accessibility to Resources: OMEA is dedicated to ensuring that
all students have equitable access to resources essential for their
academic and personal growth. This includes access to educational materials, technology, financial assistance, and other support services, regardless of background or circumstances.

Education Advancement and Support: OMEA is committed to promoting
educational advancement by providing opportunities for intellectual
growth, skill development, and lifelong learning. Through academic
advising, mentoring programs, research opportunities, and educational
workshops, OMEA supports students in reaching their full potential and
achieving their academic goals.
