“BSA Study-In 2011″

Title: “BSA Study-In 2011″
Location: MCC (Multicultural Center)/Union Basement
Description: *Black Student Alliance Study-In 2011
During the week before Finals, for 8 days, BSA & other black student organizations will be hosting an initiative to promote scholarship, and counter the low retention and graduation rate of black students at MSU, with the goal of charting at least 5,000 collective hours worth of studying in the MCC between Thursday, December 1st and Friday, December 9th, 2011. The Multicultural Center (and the surrounding areas) will be reserved as a study area for all students. Each time a student spends a particular amount of time studying in the MCC area, they will be encouraged to chart that time to go towards the collective goal of hours spent studying. Those numbers will be calculated every few hours and then displayed publicly for the large group to see so that everyone can see how much studying we’ve accomplished at any given point. While the hours of the Study-in will parallel the building hours of the Union (7a-2a), participation in the Study-in is NOT contingent upon you staying in the building the entire time. At the end of the study-in on December 9th at 10pm there will be a large celebration with a full soul food spread and motivational speakers present to acknowledge the efforts of the black community!
